TEACHER RESUMES

Teacher Resume Writing Service.

A resume written for you by a real human being, one who knows a teaching resume has two readers, and that the district HR and a principal are looking for completely different things.

Two readers, two tests.

A teaching resume runs a gauntlet no corporate resume does. First, district HR (sometimes literally a compliance screen) is checking certifications, of course: the right license, the right state, the right endorsements, etc. Miss that check and nothing else on the page gets looked at. Then, if you clear it, a principal reads you, and principals aren’t reading for compliance. They’re reading for a picture: can I see this person in front of thirty kids on a bad Tuesday in February?

Most teacher resumes fail one reader or the other. Either the certification is scattered around the page where HR has to hunt for it, or the whole resume is written in administrator-pleasing jargon (“differentiated instruction,” “data-driven pedagogy,” “whole-child approach”) that gives the principal nothing concrete to picture.

How to write a teacher resume.

Certification block first. License type, state, endorsements, expiration. Right at the top, unmissable, exactly the way an RN leads with a license. If you hold certs in multiple states or subjects, list them all; endorsement breadth means hiring flexibility, and principals filling a vacancy will value it.

Then teach the reader your classroom in specifics. Grade levels and subjects. Class sizes. The populations you’ve actually served: IEPs, ELL, gifted clusters, Title I. The curriculum you’ve taught or, better, built. Your tech (Canvas, Google Classroom, Schoology). Post-2020, that’s a screening item that you can’t fail on.

Use outcomes carefully, because this is the field where they’re trickiest. Test-score claims can read as overclaiming, since no teacher controls scores alone. The honest versions work better: growth framed as growth (“my ELA cohort’s proficiency rose 14 points over two years”), and the outcomes you know you own: the robotics team you founded, the reading intervention block you designed, the AP course you brought to the school, retention on your team while you led it. Principals trust the things you actually built more than the scores you claim.

And show the beyond-the-classroom load: coaching, clubs, committee work, mentoring student teachers, family engagement. Schools hire whole people, and the marching band assistant who also runs data meetings is a different candidate than the same teacher without those lines.

What we cut and fix most.

  • The jargon wall: a resume that reads like an ed-school syllabus and never once shows an actual classroom.
  • The PD landfill: every workshop you’ve ever sat through, listed like credentials (pick the few that changed your teaching).
  • The four-page CV for a K-12 job, when that format is for higher ed and districts want one to two pages.
  • And the buried license, which is the one mistake that ends the process before it starts.

Pick one. That’s it.

Asked, answered.

What should a teacher resume include?

Certification block up top: license, state, endorsements, dates. Teaching history with grades, subjects, class sizes, populations served, and things you built. Extracurricular and committee load. Classroom tech. Education after certification, not before.

How long should a teacher resume be?

One to two pages. The multi-page CV belongs to higher-ed applications only.

I’m changing careers into teaching. What does my resume lead with?

Your certification or alternative-route status first, because it’s still the gate. Then translate your prior career into classroom currency: training you delivered, mentoring, curriculum-like work, the subject expertise you bring. Career-changers with real-world subject depth are a genuine sell, so say it plainly.

Should I use AI to write my teacher resume?

You can, but AI produces exactly the jargon wall principals skim past, because that’s what teaching resumes online sound like. Our writers are humans who ask about your actual classroom and put that on the page. Since 1999.
